Michael
Cerrati - Associate
Background
Mr. Cerrati received his Bachelor of Arts at the University
of Vermont, and graduated cum laude in the top 10% of his class
at Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles. During
law school, he served as a Notes and Comments Editor of the Southwestern
Journal of Law and Trade in the Americas and published two law review
articles. His most recent article analyzing the placement and role
of music in video games has been judged one of the top law review
articles of 2006 in the fields of entertainment and communications,
and will be published in the 2007 Entertainment, Publishing and
the Arts Handbook.
Prior to joining Patel & Alumit, Mr. Cerrati held
positions at entertainment companies and large law firms while pursuing
his interests in music, entertainment and intellectual property
law. Mr. Cerrati has represented clients in many aspects of the
entertainment industry and negotiated numerous contracts on their
behalf, including composer, digital download, manager, producer,
web hosting and sponsorship agreements.
Mr. Cerrati currently specializes in copyright,
trademark and entertainment law. His practice at Patel & Alumit
involves managing litigation of federal and state cases, and representing
clients before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. He also advises
clients on the selection, protection and proper use of trademarks
and copyrights, as well as negotiates and drafts trademark licenses,
consent, coexistence and assignment agreements.
